The IEEE Automatic Speech Recognition and Understanding (ASRU) workshop is the perfect gathering for expert and new-comer researchers in the fields of speech and spoken language processing.

The 2025 ASRU workshop will be held in Honolulu (Hawaii, USA) from 6th to 10th December. This workshop is known for bringing together researchers from academia and industry in a comfortable and friendly environment to discuss common interests related to automatic speech recognition and understanding.

As an important part of the workshop, we would like to highlight the tutorials, which are the perfect opportunity for experienced researchers in the field to share their knowledge with the newer researchers. This way, the audience will be offered with a learning experience in the most up-to-date topics of research in the area.

We invite you to submit your tutorial proposals, either including introductory or more advanced topics in the topics of the workshop. They may introduce an emerging area within the automatic speech recognition and understanding field related to the speaker’s own research, or present an overview of an established line of research within the area. There will be 4 selected tutorials of 3 hours each (including a break of 20 minutes). These tutorials will be held on the first day of the conference (6th December, 2025) in-person in Honolulu, two in the morning, and two in the afternoon.

  1. Tutorial title.
  2. Presenter(s) name, affiliation, contact information (email, telephone), short-bio (maximum 1000 characters), a list of five recent related publications, and a list of previous tutorial experience (if any).
  3. A summary (abstract of 3-4 sentences) of the proposed tutorial that could be used as an advertisement.
  4. Description of the proposal (1 - 2 pages description, a few relevant references, any webpages/material useful for reviewing the proposal).
  5. Explanation of relevance of the proposed tutorial (0.5 - 1 page)
  6. Tutorial Logistics, including:
    1. Duration (3 hours = 1 session)
    2. Description of presentation format (e.g. one or more presenters etc.)
    3. Special equipment required for the tutorial
    4. Description of provided accompanying material (handouts, storage devices with media, etc.).
  7. Audience information:
    1. Target audience (e.g. new researchers to the field, research students, specialists of adjacent fields).
  8. Other considerations/comments

Proposals for the 2025 ASRU workshop tutorials may be no more than 4 pages long and must follow the format stated above for their correct assessment. Please, use clear headings to indicate each point. Tutorial proposals will undergo a peer-review process based on the provided information.

Proposals should be submitted by email to tutorials@.ieeeasru.org.
